Recruiting a Search Engine Marketing Specialist - Outsource or Keep In House?

In my next couple posts, I am going to be doing a little “mini-series” on the popular trend of Outsourcing Search Engine Marketing Services on the Web. Now, as many of you know, there has been a widely held debate on whether to keep Search Marketing Services inhouse or to outsource to a SE Specialist or Firm.

While you would probably consider me to be an “Outsourcing Evangelist” given the content of my blog and the nature of our business, ESalesGuru, I am firmly convinced that “One Size DOES NOT Fit All” when it comes to deciding whether to go out or stay in with your Search Marketing endeavors. Some web companies have been very successful at retaining a ”Superstar” in-house Search Marketing team, where as others have floundered with staff turnover, limited experience, lower skill levels and sub par results.

Statistically speaking, there is certainly a rapidly growing number of web businesses outsourcing certain components or all of their Search Marketing Platform. Many are finding great results and improved ROI in their SEO and Pay Per Click campaigns due to highly specialized SE skills, lower service costs, less training time and and a more simplified and time-efficient hiring process.

To kick off this “mini-series” on Outsourcing in the Search Marketing realm, I thought it would be appropriate to gain some insight into this Hot topic from a couple proven experts in the SE field. Fredrick Marckini, founder and CEO of one of the pioneer companies in the Search Marketing Field, IProspect and Yahoo’s Search Marketing VP, Ron Belanger teamed up to write this very interesting article, Why Yahoo! Wants You to Outsource Search a couple weeks back. While both experts are certainly proponents of outsourcing Search Marketing endeavors, they do provide some sound information on factors to consider when making the decision to outsource a core task like SEM. Enjoy the Article!

In my next post, I will be discussing some key elements to be aware of when choosing an Outsourced Search Marketing Firm or Specialist!
