The Power of Press Releases in your SEO Campaigns

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had an awesome holiday with your family and friends!

Well, I want to let you in on new SEO strategy that I am rather excited about….

As many of you know, our business, esalesguru.com, is presently in “Pre-launch mode” with the upcoming launch of our Outsourcing Portal slated for the last half of this month! In the first week of December, we ran a Press Release campaign through PRweb to kick-start the Pre-launch of our site. We optimized the content of the release with targeted keywords as anchor text linking to our homepage.

Well, last week, I checked the status on my keyword listings and was rather pumped to see one of my keywords crack the top 10 at Google with other popular keywords hitting the top 20 in a couple of the other major SEs. Through this targeted Press Release campaign, we were able to get a top 10 listing for one of my keywords in Google in about a 2-3 week period! These listings have resulted in an increase in organic traffic to our site, leading to more signups. It is important to understand that before the first week in December, ESalesGuru did NOT exist in the SEs!

You may be already making good use of Press Releases in your SEO endeavors, but I wanted to briefly give you a snapshot of the steps we took to effectively optimize this Press Release campaign.

1.  Selected approximately three-four targeted keyword phrases that we wanted to build into the Press Release.

2.  Included one-two key word phrases in our Press Release Title as well as in the sub-title and first paragraph.

3.  Created Anchor Text from these particular keywords linking directly to our homepage. (i.e Outsourcing Portal, Internet Marketing Specialists)

4.  Included the same targeted keywords within the content of our homepage. Google was able to quickly pick up the relevancy of the Anchor text in the Press Release with the content of our site. With the one word (Outsourcing Portal) that we cracked the top 10 in Google, we specifically included that keyword as anchor text in the Press Release as well as in the Page Title and content of our homepage.

5.  We also tagged these specific keywords with Technorati, which would have also aided the optimization process.

In addition, this Press Release process enabled us to get top 20 listings with other major SEs for some good volume keywords such as “Internet Marketing Services” and “Internet Marketing Specialists”.

So, Press Releases with the right SEO optimization are certainly a powerful tool for increasing site traffic! Now, I certainly can’t take the full credit for this successful PR campaign. An Internet Marketing consultant, Arun Agrawal, is a Press Release and SEO Specialist and we employed his valuable services in the development of this PR campaign. I would highly recommend him and his team for any of your SEO endeavors!

Hi Craig

Congratulations for your ranking success. I can see that you are tapping the power of blogs and press releases very nicely.

I also noticed that you are using regularly updated content to attract search engines and visitors alike, rather than waste time on unproductive manipulations. Kudos!
