Web Reports vs Podcasts - How to best communicate your important web content

As I have mentioned previously, I am an avid subscriber of pretty much any Web Marketing Publication I can get my hands on! Of course, the downside to this is a bogged down inbox full of Internet Marketing Articles, white papers, special reports, ebooks and podcasts.

Now, creating free and relevant web reports and ebooks have and continue to be an excellent tool for building a subscriber list, launching a new web service or product and ultimately providing fresh content that pre-sells your respective product or service. I must say that I have personally reaped the benefits of this strategy in building my own internal list!

Of couse, this has worked for MANY others, which is why I continue to get inundated with promotions for FREE reports and ebooks. I am not saying we have hit the saturation point with this strategy, but there is great value in providing alternative modes of communication like podcasts, videocasts and webinars which provide a nice variety for your particular ebusiness and products.

I believe offering both web reports/ebooks and podcasts will serve as a “1-2 Punch” in your ebusiness arsenal. The reality is that certain types of people and personalities will resonate more with audio content over printed contact and vise versa. I personally like to have a bit of both, where I can spend some time reading certain reports and listening to podcasts other times.  I quite often enjoy listening to an Internet Marketing podcast during the latter part of the day after my eyes are seriously fatigued from staring at a computer screen all day long. A colleague of mine says that he simply does not have time during his work day to read a lengthy report or ebook and would prefer to pop a MP3 file into his car stereo and listen to the podcast on his commute home.

That is the power of podcasting isn’t it? The ability connect with people in their cars, while they exercise or suntan on the beach. Plus, the spoken word tends to have more power and influence then the written word. Through the tone and inflections in your voice you can emphasize certain points better then in printed format.

I have also found that syndicating your previous web reports or ebooks into a podcast format can provide a fresh new look and feel to your old content. I have actually put older reports into podcasts which has made them feel new and fresh again. So, if you have a winner report that did well in the past, pop it into a podcast. There are simple podcast services like Hipcast where you can publish and syndicate podcasts with ease.

So, if you haven’t already, I HIGHLY recommend incorporating Podcasting into your marketing strategy. When you are promoting a FREE new report, I would also recommend providing both a PDF and podcast format so you can hit both types of people. Podcasts are here to stay, so starting leverage the potential of this powerful communication tool today!
