The Social Media boom is in full effect as new social news sites pop up daily to grab a piece of this rapidly expanding Web 2.0 pie! The major trend that is taking shape in 2007 is the emergence of more targeted and industry-specific Social Media sites. I came across a great list of Social Media Sites from Jack Humphrey’s popular Web 2.0 Blog, Friday Traffic Report. Jack has put together a comprehensive list of Social News sites ranging from Internet Mom sites to Dog Photo sharing networks such as dogster.com. Heck, if I was selling a revolutionary new type of Puppy Chow, I know what Social News Site I would be going to!

The emergence of these many niche social news sites spells "Great Opportunity" for online advertisers and merchants seeking to connect with a highly targeted and relevant audience. If you are a web business owner and not currently doing much with Social Media, I would encourage you to check out this list and select a few of these sites that might be representative of your own target audience.
