Tis the Season to be Generous!

This will likely be my final blog post before the Christmas Break, but look for a 2008 Internet Marketing Predictions post before the New Year!

Well, I thought long and hard about what Christmas Message I wanted to pass to all of you and it kind of came to me while I was reading the book, "Giving" by Bill Clinton. I have been impacted lately by the immense needs that we see in our world today,  such as the AIDS epidemic in Africa and around the world, The Darfar crisis, and the many impoverished living in our own respective countries. It seems sometimes that the problems of the world are insermountable and yet as I read Clinton’s book on "Giving", I read of average people rising up to generously respond to these many burdens.

Many of you who read my blog are Web Business entrepreneurs in one way shape or form such as myself. I don’t know about you, but I love the Internet Biz! I think there is a great buzz and thrill at the prospect of turning a new web business into a hugely successful and profitable endeavor. But, what I have come to realize in my short 34 years on this earth is that the real intrinsic joy and contentment in life comes not from pursuits of success and personal prestige, but from giving and being generous!

Now, whatever your thoughts are on Microsoft, anyone that has observed Bill Gates actions over the past couple years would have to conclude that this is a "changed man" with renewed priorities as he shifts his focus now from building up Microsoft to the multi-billion dollar Gates Foundation. The Gates Foundation is the biggest philonthropic initiative the world has ever seen!  Bill Gates has experienced first hand the thrill of building a mega business empire, yet, his recent words at a Harvard Commencement event in June of 2007 reflect a man with a new found purpose in seeing poverty and sickness and injustice in the world alleviated by bringing together great business intelligence with radical generosity.

Anyways, as we head into the Christmas break complete with great food and special moments with our family and friends, I want to leave you with an excerpt from Bill Gates speech at Harvard. Have a wonderful holiday and I wish you a year of prosperity (and Generosity) in 2008!
