The Fine Art of Blog Commenting

As many of you know, commenting on blogs and including your URL in your signature is a good way to generate one-way links and traffic back to your blog and site. Now, it is also important that your blog comments don’t present as spam, but actually provide some relevant thoughts and hopefully faciliate an authentic dialogue with your prospective audience. Through consistent dialogue and comments on a few targeted blogs, social networks and forums this can generate some excellent traffic and links back to your site.

Now, as a web business owner, I NEVER have enough time to read the many blogs on my Feed Reader let alone provide succint and relevant comments on each. So, this is certainly a task worth outsourcing as long as you can find the right person with some knowledge of your industry otherwise they might provide fairly empty comments.

As I was reviewing the comments for my own blog last week, I came across a great example of brilliant blog commenting! I have included the screenshot of the comment below.

At first glance, I didn’t notice it was from a staff member of Voices.com. Once I clued in, I was then impressed how they not only included a link to their website, voices.com, but actually used some anchor text with their targeted keyword - that is some SEO smarts there! While there is certainly a fine line between spam and quality comments, I think this particular comment provides a decent example of a relevant comment, but also uses the opportunity to generate quality one way lnks back to their site - love it!
